Fishing the Ocean in Cocoa Beach Florida

You talk about a great area to fish in! We purchased a condo on the Atlantic Ocean, so we can do some surf fishing on the beach while we catch some rays. We can catch Pompano, Whiting, Shark, and many other species of fish. Welcome to the space coast of Florida. Only 45 miles east of Orlando. The Kennedy space center is also nearby. Want to take a cruise? Port Canaveral is here too. Vacationing or living in Cocoa Beach or Cape Canaveral or any other nearby cities offers some of the most varied of fishing venues in the United States.
As I mentioned the Banana river and the Indian river system are both fantastic for fishing. If you don’t feel comfortable fishing on the ocean, these two river systems are full of opportunities. You can fish from the shore or certain bridges that allow fishing, or hire a fishing guide to take you out to the various fishing hotspots. Fishermen and women can catch redfish, sea trout, jack, and many more. Plus, you may see a manatee or dolphin swim by.
Fishing the ocean can be an experience of a lifetime. You have many choices. Port Canaveral has numerous charter boats to choose from. You can join a group of 20 people on a large charter boat for around $65.00 or you and 3 or more friends can charter your own fishing boat which is more expensive of course but well worth the personal touch. You can fish for Grouper, which go from 20 to 80 pounds, plus red snapper, shark, dolphin fish, tuna and much more. You don’t need a fishing license or equipment on licensed charter boats. I would suggest asking what the fish are biting on, because if you need to bring live bait with you your chances will be greater to catch the big ones. Some boats only supply you with dead squid or shrimp. If the fish you are fishing for are not biting on that, you may only catch small ones. You can bring you own equipment if you would like, but make sure its saltwater ready. Come to Cocoa Beach Florida for some of the best fishing you can ever experience.
